The Lean Plate Club
Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows that trimming pounds is the easy part. Keeping them off is the challenge as boredom, tempting food and sedentary living erode your resolve. Yet few studies have examined how best to maintain weight loss, leaving a missing piece in the obesity puzzle. Now comes a federally funded study that suggests the bathroom scale, an emergency diet toolbox and cues from a traffic signal may hold the keys to success. The study took a lesson from the National Weight Control Registry, a group of more than 5,000 "successful losers" who have shed at least 30 pounds and kept them off for at least a year. Registry members trim their waistlines in a variety of ways, from cutting calories and boosting exercise to joining groups such as Weight Watchers.
Institute for Integrative Nutrition offers a new education path ...
Mike: This is Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, and today I am joined by Joshua Rosenthal, founder and director of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, talking about this unique school where students can learn to transform their health from the inside out and at the same time be trained to help others. Let's begin by assuming that the readers have not heard about your organization, they know nothing about your school, but they do know something about health. Can you give a brief introduction to what you're about, and why people might be interested in it? Joshua Rosenthal: Hi Mike, it's a pleasure to talk with you about Integrative Nutrition. We are a nutrition school that teaches all the different dietary theories, from the latest trends to the ancient traditions. We do not advocate one way of eating or being.
Cargill to Conduct “Driving Heart Health With Consumers”
Henstrom, general manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa of Cargill Health & Food Technologies, will present Driving Heart Health With Consumers at the Health Ingredients Europe exhibition at Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt, Germany on Nov. 15. Henstrom will discuss new, innovative, heart-healthy products and ingredients that food and beverage manufacturers can incorporate into future product launches or reformulations of existing products. Cargills proprietary marketing research indicates that the majority of consumers in selected European markets think seriously about their health and the nutritional value of what they eat, said Henstrom. Good-tasting, efficacious functional foods are experiencing a greater acceptance by mainstream consumers than ever before. This presentation enables us to connect with food and beverage formulators to help them develop the heart-healthy products consumers are seeking.
